Timostratos aus dem Demos Alopekestellte den Antrag: Da Theogenes von Naukratisein guter Mann ist gegenüber dem Volkder Athener und Gutes tut nachKräften sowohl privat denjenigen, diekommen, als auch öffentlich in der Gegenwart undin der Vergangenheit, sowohl er selbst als auchseine Vorfahren, wolle beschließen der Rat:dass die Vorsitzenden, die ausgelost sein werdenzum Vorsitz für die erste Volksversammlung,Theogenes einführen und über ihn verhandelnlassen und die Beschlussvorlage des Ratesim Volk einbringen, wonachder Rat beschließt, dass Theogenes S.d.Xenokles aus Naukratis Proxenos undWohltäter des Volkes der Athener sein soll,er selbst und seine Nachkommen; und dassihm auch sei (das Recht zum) Erwerb eines Hauses; dasssich seiner annehmen die Generäle undder jeweils amtierende Rat.

Timostratos aus dem Demos Alopekestellte den Antrag: das andere, wie vom Rat (beantragt);dass ferner diesen Beschluss aufzeichneder Sekretär des Rates auf der Akropolisund dort aufstelle innerhalb von zehn Tagen; dass fürdie Aufzeichnung auf der Stele der Schatzmeisterdes Volkes gebe 20 Drachmen ausdem Dekret-Fonds desVolkes; dass man Theogenes belobigeund ihn zum Festbankett in das Prytaneionlade für morgen.

Kallimachos was archon (349/8).The Council and the People decided.Hierokleides son of Timostratos of Alopekeproposed: since Theogenes of Naukratisis a good man with respect to the AthenianPeople and does what good is in his power,for those who come, both privatelyand publicly, both now and intime past, both himself andhis ancestors, the Council shall decide:that the presiding committee allottedto preside at the next Assemblyshall introduce Theogenes, and puthis case on the agenda, and submit the opinionof the Council to the People, that itseems good to the Council, that Theogenes son ofXenokles of Naukratis be proxenos andbenefactor of the Athenian People,both himself and his descendants; and he shall haveright of ownership of a house;and the generals and theCouncil in office at any time shall take care of him.

Hierokleides son of Timostratos of Alopekeproposed: in other respects as proposedby the Council, but the secretary of theCouncil shall inscribe this decree on the acropolisand stand it there within ten days; andthe treasurer of the People shall give20 drachmas for inscribing the stelefrom the People’s fund for expenditure on decrees;and to praise Theogenesand invite him to hospitality in thecity hall tomorrow.
